The Club is sad to announce that Jerry Holt’s sister, Susan Holt Beirne, passed away on 24th April, aged 77, after a brave battle with cancer. She was an associate member of the Club and a keen supporter of its activities both on and off the field, especially the social functions.

A leading tennis coach in Hampshire for nearly 60 years, working at many of the leading clubs in Hampshire and variously coaching both the Army and Royal Navy tennis teams. She worked extensively in Spain, pioneering tennis holidays there and also in the West Indies. Whilst working in Saint Lucia in 1974 she coached some of the England cricket team who were touring at the time.

She was still coaching up until last October.

A Service of Thanksgiving for her life will be held in Romsey Abbey at 3.30 p.m. on Wednesday 22nd May.
